When removing the cover to inspect or replace the clutch discs, it is always recommended to replace the clutch cover gasket.
Even if it may appear to be in good condition visually, it often will not be reusable, risking oil leaks between the central casing and the clutch cover.
The gasket type is an O-ring. It is a circular-sectioned rubber ring used as a mechanical seal. O-rings are designed to be inserted into specific housings and compressed during assembly between the casing and cover, creating a sealing gasket.
The term O-ring literally means "O" for the letter of the alphabet that resembles its shape and "ring" which means ring in English.
In Italian, in both everyday and technical language, O-rings are also called "O-erre".
