Product information

K-Tech suspension fork springs

Fork springs play a crucial role in a motorcycle's suspension system. Their primary function is to absorb the shocks and vibrations that occur when riding over potholes, hills, and jumps.

Made up of steel or titanium alloy coils, fork springs compress and expand in response to the shocks a motorcycle encounters while riding. This helps keep the front wheel in contact with the ground, thereby improving stability, handling, traction, grip, and reducing rider stress and fatigue.

The fork spring load determines the spring's ability to absorb shock and vibration while riding, representing the spring's resistance to compression.

In off-road bikes, the fork spring load depends on both rider weight and the type of terrain or track being ridden. The rider's weight affects the amount of spring compression while riding, while the type of terrain determines the amount of impact force the spring must absorb.

Fork spring rating is specific to the motorcycle model, rider weight, and riding style. Motorcycle manufacturers often provide fork spring load tuning recommendations based on these factors, but riders often tailor the setup to their specific needs.

The unit of measurement used for motorcycle fork springs is Newton per millimeter (N/mm). For example, a fork spring load of 2.7 N/mm means that a force of 2.7 Newtons is required to compress the spring by 1 millimeter. Therefore, if the fork spring is compressed by 10 millimeters, a force of 27 Newtons (2.7 N/mm x 10 mm = 27 N) will be required.

All K-TECH SUSPENSION springs are manufactured in the UK using the highest quality Chrome-Silicon Alloy Steel. The wire is cold-wound, heat-treated, brought to size, and ground. The fork springs are finished by polishing, and the load is embossed through laser marking. Each spring is manufactured according to DIN 2095 - grade 1 standards.
